Walking Street, Pattaya, simply named because from early evening until the bars close (around 2am officially – although many stay open beyond), the street is closed to all traffic and this restriction is actively enforced. Oddly, it’s probably about the only place in Pattaya that you won’t see hoards of motorbikes emerging from every direction. It’s a short taxi ride from your villa and taxis are plentiful for your return journey, even in the wee small hours.
For many people, Walking Street is the only Pattaya nightlife they see. There are numerous Restaurants (many overlooking the sea) which offer fabulous steak and seafood (proudly advertised as still swimming), Beer Bars and A Go Go bars on both the main stretch and up the numerous little Sois (side roads).
There are places to play pool, listen to live music, indulge in a little retail therapy or just get deafened by the DJ in some of the bars. Certainly, if you want to go out for a nice meal and/or a few drinks, you can’t go far wrong. The atmosphere is fabulous and in many ways it’s Pattaya nightlife at its best.
For those wanting to party on into the night, then after the ‘official’ closing time, you can always move on to one of Pattaya’s Discos (which stay open almost until dawn).
Don’t forget however that Walking Street is just one small part of Pattaya, you’ll find everything you find on Walking Street spread around the rest of the City – don’t be afraid to explore!
