The area around your villa plays host to three of Thailand's national parks all of which are worth a visit.
Khao Khitchakut is located in the north of Chanthaburi province. It is a mountainous park covers an area of about 59 square km. making it one of Thailand's smallest parks. The tallest mountain in the park is Khao Probad, 1085m. high. This park acts as a watershed area for Chanthaburi province, but having cool weather all year round, the most popular months for visiting are November through to January. Wildlife in the park includes gaur, elephant, bear, sambar and barking deer, serow and many species of birds.
The area connects mountainous terrain from the north with the south. The summit of Khao Siphachan is on the West Side 802 m above sea level, and in the north connects to the Khao Ang Ruenai Wildlife Sanctuary. Many canals run through this forest, Khlong Tanot being the main one. The climate is influenced by the northeast monsoon wind making this park feel chilly in temperature and fairly barren.
Namtok Phlio National Park comprises an area of 134.5 square kilometres and covers areas in many districts of Chanthaburi province. The area is rich with forest and filled with high mountains where the headwaters of streams and rivers originate. The feature of this park is its beauty and water that flows all year round. It is located about 14 kilometres from Chanthaburi, but the paved road makes the park very accessible to visitors – an easy and relaxing trip.
The weather from February to April is quite hot, and the park is covered with dense Tropical rain forest. There are a lot of wild animals in this area, because many watersheds provide nutrients for them, including bears, tigers, porcupines, macaques, gibbons, squirrels, mouse deer, pangolins, mongoose, otters, and rare birds such as little heron, brahminy kite, shika, crested eagle, hornbill and barbet, and rare fish like Tor soro, Julian's mud carp and Labiobarbus.
