There are a couple of Ten Pin Bowling halls in Pattaya – both of them air conditioned and computerised. PS Bowling, a frequent host to international competitions, to be found in the Tops Arcade on Pattaya Klang, is probably the best (and parking is easy). There’s even a pro shop where you can purchase equipment and have bowling balls made to measure.
Pattaya’s Cinemas screen all the latest films in English (with Thai subtitles generally) and they are never far behind the first release in the UK. The complexes in Big C (Pattaya Nua) and Royal Gardens (Beach Road) have several screens each and shows all day long on a rolling basis. The last show is generally around midnight and the cost of a cinema ticket here is extremely inexpensive – ideal if you want to take all the family along.
Pattaya’s Underwater World is just minutes from your Villa by car. Here you can see some of the beautiful fish to be found in the local waters close up. There are two massive tanks – the Shark Tank and the Reef Tank, with tunnels through each for a better view. You can even scuba dive in the Shark Tank (I’ve done it and have the video to prove it) where you’ll be amazed at the sheer size of some of the specimens! I’ve actually lain down next to the Nursery Sharks who were bigger than me!! If you’ve got intrepid children, then they can even get their Padi ‘Bubble Blower’ certificate in the shark tank (don’t worry, they’ll be well looked after and the larger sharks are, I’m assured, toothless).
The Pattaya Bottle Museum is the only one of its kind in the world. You’ll find it along the Sukhumwit highway between Pattaya Tai and Pattaya Klang (a short drive from your Villa). A variation on the traditional ‘ship in a bottle’ theme, you’ll find over 300 miniatures beautifully reproduced inside a variety of bottles on display. During your visit here you can try it for yourself or purchase one of a range of souvenirs.
Ripleys Thailand, located in Royal Gardens Plaza, makes a fabulous place to spend the afternoon. Here you can enjoy the ‘believe it or not’ exhibits, Ripley's Motion Master Panorama Theatre (giant screen, moving seats and surround sound to put you right into the movie you’re watching) and Laser Trek (state of the art laser guns, targets that fight back and facilities for groups of up to 26 players in the same game).
